Fire prevention
Make a consistent effort to prevent fire outbreak.
- Do not litter cigarette butts.
- Do not smoke while going to sleep or walking.
- Place fire extinguishers nearby places where fire is being used.
- Do not leave the place unattended if the fire is still burning.
- Check power sockets for any accumulated dusts.
- Check fire hazard places before going out or going to sleep.
In case of fire outbreak
Take actions accordingly and do not panic
- Alert people in the vicinity by shouting “There is a fire! (KA-JI DA),” and call 119 immediately.
- Try to put out the fire using fire extinguisher or water. If the fire involves oil burning, do not use water but use fire extinguisher or try to cover the fire with a wetted big cloth.
- When evacuating in a smoke-filled environment, avoid inhaling any smoke by staying low and cover your mouth with a wetted handkerchief.
- Evacuate using the stairs and do not use the elevators.
