Toshima no Mori on the 10F roof is a re-creation of the native natural environment that once existed in Toshima City.
It provides a place to relax while learning about the natural environment of Toshima City, such as vegetation and ecology.
*Closed at year's end/New Year's, public holidays, and during rainy or very windy weather
Based on the topographical structure of Toshima City, the city is located on the eastern edge of Mushashino Upland and was formed from a topography full of variations such as a cliff range, valley district, and plateau carved by small streams. The difference in elevation between the plateau and Kanda River is nearly equal to the 4F and 10F of Ecomuse.
The cliff range and plateau in Toshima City, which are part of the Arakawa River system, once had small rivers and spring waters where many creatures lived. Toshima no Mori has a biotope and aquarium where creatures from the Arakawa River system can be observed.
The Board of Education plans various environmental education programs for children and students that are related to the Toshima no Mori roof garden, including "The Killifish's Return Home" and "Let's Raise Rescued Dragonfly Nymphs into Dragonflies!"
On the south side of the city office on the 4F, 6F, and 8F are green terraces where city residents can enjoy greenery. The terraces are linked by outside stairways to Toshima no Mori, and observation/study routes have been created so visitors can experience the natural environment.
