Daily Life Information for Foreign Residents
The Advanced Elderly Medical Service System is a system for people 75 years old or older and for people who are 65 years old or older and have a certain disability. One health insurance eligibility certificate for the Advanced Elderly Medical Service System is issued per person (sent the month before the person’s 75th birthday). It states the percentage you bear so please make sure to present your Myna health insurance card or health insurance eligibility certificate when going to a medical facility.
Each enrollee pays a premium. As a general rule, the premium is deducted from your pension. If it cannot be deducted from your pension, you will be required to pay through a payment slip or bank transfer. You will need to follow procedures to enroll in bank transfer.
If you are unable to pay, please come to the ward office for a consultation or call the office.

There are three types of window charges at medical institutions: 10%, 20%, and 30% (for those with incomes comparable to those of active workers). Please present your Myna health insurance card or health insurance eligibility certificate at the reception desk of the medical facility when receiving care.
You can get reimbursed when the total fees you pay for medical costs or long-term care insurance reach a certain level, and payment of funeral expenses for when an enrollee in the system passes away.
