Daily Life Information for Foreign Residents
Health check-ups for infants between 3 to 4 months old, dental check-ups for 18 month olds, health check-ups for 3 year olds residing in the Toshima City will take place at Public Health Centers and Health Consultation Centers on pre-determined dates. Notices are mailed to households with eligible children on a monthly basis. Free health check-ups are available at medical institutions contracted with the Toshima City Office for infants between 6 and 7 months and 9 to 10 months (vouchers to be sent 2 months after birth) and between 18 and 24 months (vouchers to be enclosed with notification for 18 months health check-up).
A health nurse or midwife will visit the homes of all newborn babies before they reach 4 months for healthcare consultation and to provide parenting information in the area. Please make sure to send the notification of birth card (baby visitation information) postcard included in your Mother and Child Health Bag.
This smartphone app is useful for childbirth and childrearing. It will enable easy scheduling of vaccinations to avoid missing vaccinations.
It will also send you notifications about the community, such as about health check-ups and events. It can also keep a record of your pregnancy and your child’s development.
Available in English, simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese, Korean, Thai, Nepali, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Indonesian, and Russian.

Vaccination coupons will be sent individually for BCG, Hepatitis Type B, rotavirus, childhood pneumococcus, DPT-IPV-hib (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, inactivated polio, hib; from April 2024), MR (measles, rubella), Chicken pox, Japanese encephalitis, DT (diphtheria, tetanus), and cervical cancer will be sent individually.
The Toshima City Office offers subsidies for mumps vaccinations. Vaccination coupons will be sent individually.
From June 2024, Toshima City will fully subsidize the cost of voluntary HPV vaccinations for all males in the sixth grade through the first year of high school who are registered residents of the city.

The City will provide a dental check-up, brushing advice, mini presentation by health nurses and nutritionists for 1 year olds residing in the Toshima City. (A notice will be sent to those eligible)
The Toshima City Office will provide dental check-ups, brushing advice, and preventive treatments for 2 year olds, 2 years and 6 months olds, 3 years and 6 month olds and 4 year olds residing in the City. (by reservation / a notice will be sent to 2 year olds).

“Unexpected accidents” ranks high as the cause of death for children. Kidsafe is a demo-room type experience based facility that displays panels on accidents and indicates locations where accidents frequently occur. Anyone can visit freely.
